Phones

☹Phone 1 $30

  • T-Mobile G1 with Android 2.2, broken, repair, as is
  • “For parts or not working”
  • Unlocked for L3.90 (GBP) on 4-30-2011
  • Replaced touchscreen with This one for $13.09
  • currently (5-4-2011) this phone still looses backlight when closed (tried a couple of known good digitizers and screens) The backlight issue MIGHT be related to the ribbon cable that run between the screen and handset. (mobo/software independent)
  • Currently has Phone 2 motherboard
  1. USB debugging is NOT enabled on this phone. That feature follows the mobo, and the Phone 2 mobo that's in this phone doesn't have it enabled.
  2. During normal boot, the system hangs on “G1”
  3. Once hung, the phone (mobo) must have batter & USB power removed for 5-15 min before it will power back up.
  4. If you do a <CAM>+BPWR, and have a DREAIMG.nbh on the SD card, it will unzip/pack the files and prompt you to press the power button to update or action button to cancel. Unfortunately, it hangs here. (boooo!)
  5. WOAH! After trying to install RC29 via <CAM>+PWR, it finally took. (and after soft reboot, wouldn't start back up… letting it cooldown now)
  6. <HOME>+PWR hangs @ G1 (full good battery, USB physically connected to PC, no SD card)
  7. <HOME>+PWR hangs again @ G1 (full batt, USB Physical→PC, SD card has engineering SPL (update.zip)) <sigh>
  8. Perhaps recovery image is hosed?
  9. <BACK>+PWR hangs at rainbow screen (full batt, USB Physical→PC, SD card has engineering SPL (update.zip))
  10. Installed Official 1.6 android DREAIMG.NBH via <CAM>+PWR and although it took the image, it still hangs at “G1” on boot.

Phone 2 $25.09

  • T-mobile G1 AS IS for parts - Hangs on boot - extra bat
  • This phone ended up being a parts phone. speaker went into phone 1. Extra battery was shot. (bulging)
  • It looks like the SD card slot isn't reading cards.
  • Currently has Phone 3 mobo (no touchscreen support - follows mobo) The touchscreen issue MIGHT be software related.
  • Phone is currently working (minus the touchscreen), UNLOCKED, and running vanilla RC29
  • USB Debugging is enabled & ADB works

★Phone 3 $55

  • HTC G1 (T-Mobile) Screen not responsive Parts phone
  • Unlocked for L3.90 (GBP) on 5-4-2011
  • Tried several screens and digitizers troubleshooting the touchscreen not working. Swapped motherboards with Phone 1 and the “touchscreen not working” followed the motherboard. This phone now works!
  • Swapped motherboards with Phone 1
  1. Cyanogen ROM followed mobo 1.
  2. Came with Cyanogen Mod ROM with Android 2.2 on it
  3. USB debugging is enabled on this (now working) phone. (USB debugging was enabled on the Phone 1 mobo, and that feature follows the mobo)

★Phone 4 $50.95

  • HTC G1 (Unlocked) Smartphone FOR PARTS
  • “I UNLOCKED IT SO I COULD USE IT WITH AT&T AND ON MY GLOBAL TRAVELS…IT POWERS UP JUST NICE BUT THE TOUCHSCREEN IS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE”
  • USB debugging IS enabled
  • Phone is currently usable, but trackball only!
  • This phone has a BROKEN RIBBON CABLE between the display and the rest of the phone
  • Installed this $11.67 ribbon cable and phone WORKS!
  • tweaked it a bit
  1. rooted phone via telnet
  2. Installed Amon-RA recovery console by putting AmonRA img on SD card, booting phone normally, starting telnetd, telnetting into phone (find IP adde in wireless settings) and doing a flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0.img
  3. Installed DangerSPL
  4. Phone would no longer boot
  5. Re-installted Danger SPL, (no boot), Engineering SPL (no boot), Danger SPL (no boot)
  6. Booted into recovery and wiped all settings (note, this didn't revert the recovery image or the DangeeSPL)
  7. Installed Cyanogen mod… initial boot after mod took FOREVER (literally 5 minutes or so… nothing but G1 logo on screen! Just be patient.
  8. Phone now works and runs Cyanogen 6

☹Phone 5 $45

  • HTC G1 (T-Mobile) AS IS
  • “Phone is AS IS because of it's bad touch screen!”
  • .
  • .
  • NOTE: Phone booted and immediately requested to install (official) android 1.6 update. (Update was allowed)
  • Phone also errors out with “android.process.acore” when applications are run.
  • PHONE HAS NOT BEEN WIPED FROM PREVIOUS OWNER! Performed factory Wipe 5-7-2011
  • tested a new digitizer and touchscreen was still unresponsive. Ribbon in the screen half of the phone appears fine.
  • Re-seated both display cables on the mobo.
  • Mobo IMEI: 355751021782478
  1. Running fresh RC29 now
  2. ADB/USB Debugging enabled
  3. **NOT UNLOCKED*
  4. startup wizard bypassed
  5. Might need radio update
  • Installed Amon RA recovery image (worked!)
  • Installed updated radio firmware (worked)
  • Installed Danger SPL… and phone hangs at G1 all the time now!
  • .
